This year’s winner for Best Documentary is "Inside Job‘ by Charles Ferguson. In accepting his Oscar, Ferguson said:
"Forgive me, I must start by pointing out that three years after our horrific financial crisis caused by financial fraud, not a single financial executive has gone to jail, and that’s wrong."
Yes, he used the ‘F’ word – fraud. Famous shortseller Jim Chanos was throwing around F-bombs at this time last year, wondering aloud "where are the perp walks?" There were no perp walks then and there are no perp walks now. I think it’s likely there will be no perp walks in the coming year either – this despite the biggest financial catastrophe in three generations. What does that tell you about the United States?
Inside Job, indeed. Here’s the trailer clip.
And here Ferguson explains why he made the film.
