Credit Writedowns’ Database Failure

This morning while I was doing my BBC Interview, the Credit Writedowns database failed.

I noticed it first when there were no posts on the front page – just a note saying "Sorry, the post you are seeking does not exist." In any event, this is a major, major headache because we are now using the database backup from the previous day and that means having to re-create all the posts. Comments may be lost unfortunately. But we will see what happens when we sync with our comment provider which keeps the comments in their database.

In any event, why the database failed and erased all posts is still a mystery. Thank god there were backups. There will be glitches though. Hopefully, things will be back to normal by next week.

If you notice extra posts in the feed from yesterday, this is why. Sorry for the duplication. One last note for those getting the feed, the best feed address is https://www.creditwritedowns.com/feed. Please use this one for the timeliest updates.

If anyone has suggestions for improvement on site layout, feeds, content, etc, now is a good time to pass along your thoughts. Chances are, the site will need an overhaul! You can e-mail me at edh@creditwritedowns.com to contact any of the post authors or with thoughts on site re-design.
